Ultra Pro Sleeve Review
In the past I have used Ultra Pros and have always been disappointed in their quality. They were generally cut too short to fully protect a card. They also always seemed to be rough on the edges. This made me want to find a new brand of sleeves. I found out about Dragon Shields and purchased some. I then switched to Dragon Shields because of their superior quality. I have also tried the Super Japanese brand. They were okay, but they showed where quick. Also, after a while the corners on them became bent, which made it hard to shuffle. So I was pretty much stuck on buying Dragon Shields until recently.
Lately my favorite brand of sleeves, dragon shields, has had some major quality issues. It first started with one pack of them being so badly miscut that you had to break the top open your self. This was very annoying, and many of the sleeves were damaged in the process. Another pack I got the sleeves were miscut to were the cards didn't fully fit in the card protector. Also, one of my friends recently played in a high level event with dragon shields and got a match loss for marked sleeves. It was because half of the sleeves had a different height than the other half. They were new sleeves that he had just bought too. This made me very mad, and I was determined to find a new brand.
I saw some people using some new Ultra Pros that were surprisingly good in quality. They were textured Ultra Pro card protectors. They come in a different variety of colors, including red, blue, green, and orange among others. As soon as my local store, The Dragons Table, got them in I purchase 100 of them. I quickly resleeved one of my decks eager to get in some testing. I really like the quality and the way they felt. By the end of the night I was set, I had to get more. I purchased another 100 of a different color, and for the last week been playing with them almost non-stop.
So far they have showed minimal where in a deck that gets shuffled about 6 times more than the average deck. The fronts still look very shiny, and the backs still have a great feel. The price is also unbeatable at $3 for 50. You can easily sleeve two decks for 9 dollars. I am very pleased in how good they are, and I believe this will be my new brand that I play with all the time. I highly recommend purchasing these sleeves for your next deck.
